Occult/satanic/macabre/dark themes and costumes and setpieces have been present in popular culture and subcultures and media since at least the 60s. It's utterly harmless. Nothing happens. They aren't doing rituals or casting spells. You can't do rituals or cast spells.
Nothing happened when Bambi Thug performed at Eurovision. Or when Zeal & Order make music, or Twin Temple, or Ghost BC. Or Behemoth (or a large chunk of the black metal scene).
I've listened to black metal for years. I know others who have. We're just people.
Some of you look for this stuff and clutch your pearls when you find it.

This whole sub has just become Christian derangement sadly
Ironically it is the historical and cultural dominance of Christian symbolism that even makes “satanic” stuff relevant or appealing for edgy artists.

I think it’s a bit of both…. (Fellow metal fan here) I understand it more in metal but especially with pop stars it can be very odd imo.
Reminds me of the metal bands that were asked decades later about their use of satanic iconography in the 80s/90s and a lot of them said basically the attention they got was free press and increased their record sales.
