I was watching a European politician (German MEP Hildegard Bentele) defend Israel’s actions in Gaza. She claimed that October 7 was horrific and began crying while describing allegations that Israelis had been burned alive and raped, claims that have since been debunked. (Full Interview)
It seemed performative, and I was shocked. How could she cry over the deaths of 1,200 people while ignoring the deaths of more than 100,000 Palestinians in what many describe as a genocide? Her reaction reminded me of John Kirby’s fake crying.
I was also surprised to read about a Swedish-Palestinian politician who was wearing an Israeli star in support of israel.
In the United States, AIPAC has significant political influence, but how does Israel have so much influence in Europe?
