Submission statement:

This is the hole our betters have dug for us. If you think the problem is total energy growth, you’re probably right. If you think the problem is too little renewable growth, you’re also probably right. And if you think the problem is time, meaning we don’t have enough, I think you’re as right as it gets.

We don't have enough time; it's as simple as that.

  2. This is the main thing the ruling class is shitting its pants over. Unfortunately a lot of people in this sub would rather parrot oil corp propaganda instead of acknowledging that this issue *will* dominate our lives within the next 20 years. Start thinking carefully about where your water and food come from, people, because some sources won’t be sustainable in the long term.

The earth is approximately 5 billion years old. During that time it’s been a ball of fire, a ball of ice, and everything inbetween. We just happen to have been lucky enough to be born into a relatively temperate period, a blip on the clock-face of the world’s lifespan.

In England during the 1700s it was common for “Frost Fairs” to be held on the the River Thames during winter. The river would freeze completely solid with ice thick enough to erect temporary structures upon, allowing all kinds of mass entertainment events to take place, football matches, bullfights, bowling competitions etc.

Step back a few centuries to the time of Roman occupation, Northern England was lined with vineyards.

If next year the temperature were to change to allow either of those things to happen, people would be screaming it’s a climate warning and we’re all going to die.

    Think.
