**Submission Statement:** The nativist wing of the GOP is taking aim at a new target – naturalized citizens. Across the country, MAGA lawmakers are putting forth legislation to restrict naturalized citizens from holding office. Many critics rightfully point out the slippery slope from stopping naturalized citizen from holding office evolving into stopping naturalized citizens from voting at all. And combined with Trump’s assault on birthright citizenship, this presents a two-pronged attack to create a caste of second-class citizens with a lesser degree of civic rights and freedoms compared to native-born Americans.
