Among the first dozen is ASIP Technologies’ 30-acre semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) project in Vizag. The facility, being established in a partnership with South Korea’s APACT, has an initial investment of over 4.6 billion rupees. After the foundation stone was laid on Aug. 1, ASIP said in a statement that it will have an annual production capacity of 96 million chips. The facility is to provide chips for [artificial intelligence](https://archive.md/o/UoGxU/https://asia.nikkei.com/business/technology/artificial-intelligence), high-performance computing, data centers and high-speed communications.
ASIP also plans a more than 20 billion-rupee expansion to scale up its advanced semiconductor packaging operations, the statement says, adding that the project is expected to directly create over 1,000 jobs for highly skilled workers and indirectly bring another 1,600.
