The initial results are 51.2% for the 'Yes' camp & 48.8% for the 'No' camp, but I expect the margin to get better for the 'Yes' camp as the count continues in Reykjavík, which unlike the rural areas is leaning solidly towards the 'Yes' camp.

What is quite commendable about these results is that the Social Democrats & the Liberals, which barely got 36% of the vote in the last election, are the only two parties that have campaigned in favour of the ‘Yes’ camp, all the other parties (except the Pirates, which have positioned themselves as neutral) have campaigned in favour of the ‘No’ camp lol:

As a lifelong Democratic Socialist/Eco-Socialist Leftist, I’m quite ashamed of the position of the [Left-Green Movement](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Left-Green_Movement) & the [Socialist Party](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialist_Party_of_Iceland) 🤦♂️ that’s why I’m posting about this here instead of in a leftist sub, I don’t want to feel even more shame debating with fellow Democratic Socialists about this.
