I’m so out of my depths on all of this trade / tariff / historical agreements etc. But it does make me wonder, if it all boils down to the law of the jungle (might makes right), why would any type of “fairness” or reciprocity exist in any trade agreements with a super power?
What I mean is, if any negotiation is about leverage, and a super power holds all the leverage, how can any country broker a deal in which both sides compromise? Wouldn’t all trade deals amount to the smaller country being taken advantage of because they have no leverage?
