Below is a conversation between Nixon and Graham.

**Billy Graham:** …But there are two types of Jews. One is what I call the Old Testament remnant, that are faithful to the faith of their fathers, and they are some of the finest people in the world. And the other is what the Bible calls the **synagogue of Satan,** that have no faith, that are radical, that are revolutionary, that are pornographic, and that are driven by a supernatural power.

**President Nixon:** Supernatural?

**Billy Graham:** Yes, a supernatural power. They are so brilliant, and they are so able, but they are driving this country to destruction.

**President Nixon:** Well, you know, it’s a very strange thing, Billy. I have noticed—and you look at the media, you look at the motion pictures, you look at the stage—they are completely dominated by them.

**Billy Graham:** And they are the ones that are putting out this filth.

**President Nixon:** Yes, that's right. And it is a very difficult thing to handle because any time you say anything, then you are accused of being antisemitic.

**Billy Graham:** Well, that’s how they protect themselves.

**Billy Graham:** The news media are a monopoly. And they are the ones that are putting out this filth. Look at *Newsweek*, *Time*, *The New York Times*, *The Washington Post*, *The Los Angeles Times*.

**President Nixon:** Every one.

**Billy Graham:** Every one is controlled.

**President Nixon:** The *Los Angeles Times*, too?

**Billy Graham:** Yes, sir.

**President Nixon:** I didn't know that.

**Billy Graham:** Otis Chandler is a weak man. The man that's running it is a Jew named Frank Haven. He's the managing editor. And he is a radical.

**President Nixon:** Look at the *New York Times*. It's a Jewish newspaper. Rosenthal is the managing editor. Sulzberger is the publisher.

**Billy Graham:** And they are the ones pushing the radicalism.

**President Nixon:** I have to do what is right for the country. And in terms of Israel, I've done more for Israel than any other president.

**Billy Graham:** Yes, you have. They know that.
**President Nixon:** But look, I do that because I think it's right. But on the other hand, privately, we've got to face the fact of who is driving this country crazy.

**Billy Graham:** That's right. And they're the ones.

**President Nixon:** Now, you can't say it publicly. If you say it publicly, the whole thing blows up. But we know it.

**Billy Graham:** We know it. And I've been very careful. I have many friends among them, and I tell them how much I love them and support them. But they don't know how I really feel about what they're doing to this country.
