In a controversial book about Diana, he alleged the then-Prince Charles sounded like a “lottery winner” after the news.

I actually saw something like this play out in real life. I worked in a company where an officer I worked for was going through a wicked messy divorce. Soon to be ex wife was going to get the house, he was going to go from seeing his kids every day to every other weekend and he was going to lose half of his retirement accounts. He was already out of the house, the same house the wife has the affair partner living in now.
Then on a sleeting New England January night stbx wife and affair partner die in a traffic accident.
Just like that his situation reversed and on top of that he’s getting her life insurance and retirement accounts and he gets to sue for her passing.
Dude never said anything but never saw him in such a good mood ever.
So yeah, don’t blame Charles for his reaction since his problem worked itself out in a similar manner.
