The number of nursing home beds in the US is decreasing just as baby boomers are becoming most likely to need them. The article covers some of the causes–namely that Medicaid reimbursement is not high enough, staff shortages reduce the effective number of beds available, and quality issues.
I'm curious about your thoughts on policy solutions and especially how nursing home availability and payment compare with other countries.

Staffing shortages seem like the hardest issue to solve aside from immigration. The job sucks, but paying higher wages means more expensive care.
