Short version: Trump's been campaigning in Alabama, Oklahoma + Nebraska, states he won by 20+. Reuters counted Republicans in 41 of 62 competitive races keeping their distance from him. Senators who aren't on the ballot until 2028 or 2030 and they're criticizing him anyway. I think we're already in the post-Trump era and it's hard to see in the day to day. Curious if people here think that's premature, since he did just take out ppl in primaries (massie etc)

Submission statement: I wrote this. It’s about whether Trump’s hold on the Republican Party has already broken, which matters for pretty much everything this sub argues about, from tariffs to who the GOP runs in 2028. Reuters counted Republicans in 41 of 62 competitive races keeping their distance from him, senators who aren’t up until 2028 or 2030 are criticizing him, and he’s been campaigning in Alabama, Oklahoma and Nebraska a month before the midterms. I also get into Talarico, El-Sayed and Ossoff. He did just beat Cassidy and Massie in primaries, so curious if people think I’m early.

  2. Let’s have the midterms before we declare this. If the GOP gets wiped out then I can agree.

  3. Even if the GOP loses every tight race, Trump is still the more influential political figure in the West and second only to Xi.

    The Trump era isn’t over
