There’s a really good documentary called Route 91 or something. I don’t think it’s even on YouTube anymore either but it’s some incredibly done investigative journalism.

I would not be surprised if he did it, but in no way believe that he was doing it alone. The “why” is hard to ascertain. From what I understand, his suite was facing LAS and he attempted to shoot the fuel tanks located there, and flights to Area 51 are chartered from a private terminal at LAS, but that’s about the only interesting connection I’ve seen. There were apparently also Saudi royals at the Mandalay Bay that night? It really does border on the line of crazy guy and unknown political motive to the point where it’s impossible to tell because his weird brother did not do this case any favours.
