Submission statement: the Survey of Consumer Finances is the source of the most comprehensive data available for the state of household finances in the US. It is conducted once every three years, and until this morning’s release, the 2022 data was the most recent. We now have the 2025 data, which showed a modest 2% increase in real median household net worth, to a new all-time high of $215,900 (2025 dollars). This was much slower than the increase between 2019 and 2022, and the increase was uneven between demographic groups. Real median net worth declined by 23% among households with reference person aged 35 and under, and increased 37% among those aged 75 and older.
