The "Single Enemy": The gist of this conspiracy theory is that early 16th-century Catholic Europe was impervious to external control due to its religious unity and the monopoly held by the Church of Rome, as well as its enforcement of laws against usury. To undermine this authority, secret networks allegedly instigated a division within Christianity from the inside. Focus on the Old Testament: Conspiracy theorists point to the Protestant emphasis on reading the Bible directly (including the Old Testament), and the study of Hebrew by humanists and reformers, as evidence of a deliberate "Judaization."

Or maybe the catholic church just sucked at the time?
Really? You don’t say?
It was about money and political power. Basically a precursor to “No taxation without representation.”
Having first hand experience. The worst one of them all is probably the Jehovas Witnesses.
