Connectivity for Starlink systems used by the Ukrainian military have "been restored and remains operational," a source in the Defense Ministry told the Kyiv Independent on Oct. 15.

SpaceX, the owner of Starlink, implemented speed restrictions on Oct. 14 without warning, limiting speed to 100 miles per hour (160 kilometers per hour). The unexpected restriction disrupted active military operations, including the use of mid-range strike and interceptor drones.

"As of now, (Starlink military package) Starshield service while on the move has been restored and remains operational. We have confirmed this through reports from our units," the source said.
"The Defense Ministry is also continuing its engagement to clarify all the reasons and circumstances surrounding yesterday’s restrictions."

The source did not say if all restrictions had been lifted or if some speed restrictions still applied.

  1. Submission statement:

It seems the Starlink episode has come to an end just as quietly as it began. The cause is still unknown with the White House and SpaceX blaming each other for the incident and, interestingly, no official statement released by anyone regarding this incident.

The implications of this are significant for Ukraine tactically as it allows unfettered continuation of mid range strikes, drone interceptions and frontline logistics missions. Although the disruptions were painful, it likely ultimately caused very little overarching effects or issues that Russia could exploit.

However, it raises serious questions about American intentions and internal dynamics at a time where Ukraine is winning the war on the frontline but facing a serious struggle in the air. Was this at Trump’s behest? Elon Musk trying to push his own agenda? Or someone in the Pentagon trying to curry favor or force Ukraine to submit? It’s not the first time something like this has necessarily happened before, and I have a suspicion that Elbridge Colby was involved. Regardless though, the scariest moment of support for Ukraine this year has, so far, been averted. There are still challenges Ukraine faces, but the loss of Starlink could’ve been an absolute disaster if it continued.

This was a weird fucking episode
