With the unpopularity of the Iran War, I believe that Secretary Hegseth will step down after the mid terms. My bets for his replacement are Rep Mike Rogers, followed by Robert Wilkie and Gen Keith Kellog. They will at first try to show resolve but will eventually be forced by congressional pressure to bring the war to a close.

I could also see Hegseths removal become tied to a deal to pass the NDAA or a $1.5T top line

  1. Hesgeth doesn’t strike me as the type to resign or step down. Not enough shame or self awareness

  2. Well, in order to remove Hegseth, the US congress needs to grow a spine and overcome partisan brinkmanship, which I don’t see happening in the near foreseeable future.
