    >**A Russian human rights activist freed as part of a prisoner swap between Russia and Western countries has vowed to continue to fight for the release of other detainees still held by Moscow.**

    >Nobel Peace Prize winner Oleg Orlov, chairman of the NGO Memorial – which investigates human rights violations and aids political prisoners – was jailed for two-and-a-half years in February for criticizing Russia’s war in Ukraine.

    >He was released last week along with 16 others in the largest negotiated exchange between Russia and the West in decades.

    >Now in Germany, the 71-year-old said on Monday that he was “of course happy” about his release but added, referring to other activists: “Where are Alexei Gorinov, Igor Baryshnikov, Daniel Kholodny?”

    >“They should be here,” he said.

    >The co-winner of the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize continued: “I am not thinking about stopping work, on the contrary – there will be a lot of it.”

    >As a member of Memorial, which the Kremlin officially banned in 2021, Orlov was an observer during armed conflicts in the former USSR.

    >From the beginning of the second Chechen war, he led Memorial’s activities in the Russian North Caucasus, including in Chechnya.
