  1. This reads like she’s establishing a pretext to confirm him. To even have such a deep one-on-one conversation with the guy means you’re serious about the prospect of him serving in the role. She did not come away from their conversation swearing to vote against his candidacy, and I think anything less than that is a green light. Collins will not be the deciding vote against Trump’s wishes unless she feels very strongly, and she clearly does not feel very strongly about this.

  2. Ernst seemed like a pretty clear no last week until they spent some money against her then she folded like cheap suit. The others will too.

  3. Real talk. Trump has put forth a bunch of bad nominees, but some are going to have to get confirmed in order to keep the worst ones away. I’m not saying Hegseth should go through, but if I had to give Hegseth a green light to keep Gabbard as far away from the national intelligence apparatus as possible, I’d be okay with that.
