I’m pretty sure the majority of professional artists work for corporations that would probably be less able to/interested in paying them if copyright was 2 (or even 5) years

No, if you want to fight inequality then incentivize projects that benefit everyone equally.
Things like more housing, more infrastructure, more facilities, etc.
Going after one sub group of people won’t magically fix inequality it will just end up in a big failure.
