The west is warning that russian disinformation operations are expanding, as sanctioned Moscow-based disinformation company “Social Design Agency” prepares to flood internet with DoppelGänger websites and fake articles.

There need to be hard actions against Russian disinformation.

Simply hoping true information will outcompete disinformation/misinformation and hoping fact checking is enough will not work.

Disinformation/misinformation campaigns are specifically designed to be viral, believable, and strong emotion inducing without any constraints of being grounded to truth. There’s no way for truth to outcompete them unless the disinformation campaigns themselves push too far by which time it’s already too late.

It’s already pretty late now.
