In the wake of Trump’s Chips tariff. I’m looking deep into this issue of moving Chip company from Taiwan to US.

It turns out Biden was also pushing to move Taiwan chips to US. But his way is different to Trump. He’s given TSMC free money to build factory and Trump is threatening them with tariff

But their purpose are same and their reason are also same, which is national security.

What national security are they talking about? Have they been briefed that China’s invasion is imminent so they have to secure the chips?

The timing isn’t coincidence either. After DeepSeek was announced, Trump is immediately announcing he wants TSMC to move the factory into US

It turns out this issue is actually bipartisan issue

    Several things:
    1. TSMC already moved a factory to Arizona due to the CHIPS Act. Intel and Samsung also have capacity in the US.

    2. Top line chips are the only guarantee that US will aid Taiwan, so they are unlikely to be relocated, unless there are some mind boggling level guarantees.
    3. You can expect the war with the ccp empire to hit October 27 or April 28, given ccp build up and seasonal tides.

  2. If the tariffs on TSMC go through I can’t help but thinking that allowing the Arizona fab to be built was a strategic mistake for Taiwan.

Now US has high-end chip building capabilities and Trump is hurting Taiwan using that as leverage

I don’t think there’s urgent intelligence for like later this year or whatever

These things take years to set up

I think basically everyone understands that Taiwanese independence isn’t lasting the decade.

This isn’t Ukraine where they’ll fight for their freedom. No taiwanese person is dying for independence. Probably a peaceful acquisition in a few years. Dems and Rs understand this.

Goal here is to move as many Taiwanese engineers and TSMC assets stateside as we can
