We’re really speedrunning the end of Pax Americana. I wonder if the ghosts of the 40s-50s political class would find it funny that they were so successful creating a new world order that their descendants view it not as something they have to work for but the default state of the world.

Leaving aside the autarkic and protectionist bullshit, I am genuinely amazed that someone can say this without any shred of self-awareness.
