Once a Trump Foil, Warren Seeks Collaboration on Policy

  1. Aging Democrats that want to collaborate with the Trump administration need to either retire or be primaried out of existence. And this isn’t even accounting for Warren’s anti-market policy preferences.

Populists of both wings collaborating because they both irrationally hate markets, totally never seen this one before!!

  3. I’m in favor of this.

If Trump works with Warren on the economy, Dems might just have a shot at winning in 2028.

  4. >This week, Ms. Warren sent a letter to Howard Lutnick, Mr. Trump’s pick to be commerce secretary, scrutinizing him over his ties to a cryptocurrency firm with a record of illicit activity. She also pressed Mr. Trump’s Treasury secretary, Scott Bessent, on whether he avoided paying taxes while running his hedge fund. After Mr. Trump’s budget office issued a temporary freeze on federal funding, Ms. Warren said, “We do not consent to this lawless power grab.”

    >Ms. Warren said she was particularly interested in Mr. Trump’s pledge to cap credit card interest rates at 10 percent, his aspirations to make housing more affordable and his goal of reviving domestic manufacturing and supply chains. She has also said she would like to work with Mr. Trump on legislation to abolish the debt limit. In the Trump era, Ms. Warren said, the key will be not to get distracted. “I think of this as an issue of focus,” she said. “It’s not being in 1,000 places at once, right? It’s being absolutely clear about what kinds of choices are being made and who’s going to benefit and who’s going to pay the price.”

    Did anyone read the article?

It’s more nuanced than the headline. Yeah, I know her populist economics policies are bad, but I haven’t seen anything to suggest the fact that she’s working in complete agreement with all of Trump’s policies.

Going on a nihilistic scorched-earth strategy while Donald Trump’s administration is already burning it all down, wouldn’t help anyone. It’s best to collaborate and take wins, while also criticizing the administration.

The credit card interest rate cap is so stupid I almost want them to pull it off.

The only thing here that you can realistically work with Trump on that would achieve a good result (because I’m dubious on what Trump would do for housing) is abolishing the debt ceiling.

  7. Sad that this sub apparently judges based off just the headline, but the whole article is about her *sending a letter* to the Commerce Secretary. It’s not that deep.
