The only reason tariffs aren’t absolutely savaged across the political scene is linguistic semantics. You don’t tariff the EU, you put tariffs on the Americans. You put tariffs on the factory or shop bringing in machines, spare parts, lab materials, beer, wine, ammo all of that. You are taxing the nice italian wine, the german beer, the czech ammo, french plastics, the precision equipment, the drill bits and gaskets and all of that. The left is annoying when it goons to the idea of higher income taxes, the right is as annoying if not more annoying when it jerks off to the idea of an American business filling out more forms and giving more money to the government to waste.
