  1. It’s funny, this is annoying for them but they’re probably pretty happy with the Trump presidency so far on net.

Thank you Environmentalist Trump for helping shut down Pennsylvania metallic coal mines

  3. > investigating Google

Are they just trying to get… Nest? How much money does Google actually make in China, or by investigation, do they mean like how they hacked Google to find the names of dissidents?

  4. >The government said it would implement 15% tariff on coal and liquified natural gas products, as well as a 10% tariff on crude oil, agricultural machinery, large-displacement cars.

Those last two items, would John Deere or Caterpillar have any significant market share in China? I’d have thought Chinese domestics would have that market sewed up. And I suppose the dozen assholes in Shanghai who buy imported Hellcats would have to pay another 10% on top of their +100% displacement and import tax.

  5. China has to put on a face but it doesn’t matter. These tariffs are just for show.

Google has little business and this select category of American exports is minimal in China.

Meanwhile, Chinese businesses will avoid tariffs by setting up shop in ASEAN countries. As ASEAN countries get richer, they will buy more from China.

China knows its future is not with the United States. The US will never further support its development so China’s economic future is with ASEAN, Africa, and the other non-Western countries of the world.

Would be a very easy PR win for China amongst the midwits of the world (including some of you people) if they made a big song and dance about *not* enacting reciprocal tariffs, but of course Beijing is also run by pig-headed morons.
