  1. There is a 0% chance that someone as stupid as Trump would ever be able to get a good deal, so that’s terrible news.

    >>Hegseth: “The US does not believe that NATO membership for Ukraine is a realistic outcome of a negotiated settlement.”

I like how Trump’s idea of a peace plan is to give Putin what he wants

  3. Based off how negotiations for Afghanistan went, I expect nothing but complete withdrawal of all US support to Ukraine & lifting sanctions against Russia within weeks.

Hope Europe is ready to step up.

  4. Trump is going to “negotiate” a peace deal with Putin (leaving out Zelensky) that will give Putin everything he wants

And then they will present the deal to Zelensky, who will reject it. Trump will declare Zelensky the aggressor and Putin the peacemaker and will demand US aid to Ukraine is cut.

But Ukraine will not stop fighting even if they lose US aid. And I doubt Trump even has the votes to cut aid to Ukraine through congress. The Democrats will have leverage in these upcoming budget negotiations because Trump needs to raise the debt ceiling and he doesn’t have enough Republican support to donthat with no Democrat votes.

  5. I wonder, what would happen if the US and Russia agree to a treaty but the EU and Ukraine don’t?

This is good…Trump is actually doing something.

“His predecessor, President Joe Biden, hadn’t spoken to his Russian counterpart in nearly three years.”

Absolutely wild that Biden didn’t speak with Putin — friend or enemy, they are one of the largest global powers and dialogue needs to be consistent.

  7. Trump might as well bring in Zalmay Khalizad, he already has experience negotiating an ally’s surrender

  8. It is very telling that in Ukraine we have a democracy totally centered around fighting a war (what many on the right want), where they are in an existential fight to stay alive, and where people are saying that they want to remain a democracy and remain an independent country and the right is just like “nah.”

If you don’t support Ukraine and their fight and see that it is a moral imperative then you have no heart and frankly that courage you want to embody looks a lot more like cowardice

  9. The article says both Putin and Trump would visit each other’s countries.

The idea of allowing Putin to set foot in the US  after everything he did is absolutely nauseating.
