I think everyone is going to blame Hegseth/Trump. And that’s not totally wrong.
But if you look at how we arrived at this moment, I can’t say that I’m particularly surprised. There were many off ramps that could have been taken by multiple parties but nobody wanted to do it. And here we are.

There’s literally no point for the US to be in NATO if that’s the case. There’s no mechanism to expel a member, but at this point, the US is dead weight, a freeloader; for Europe’s sake, I hope we do withdraw from NATO.
