In 2016 Trump 100% ran as a moderate. But this has nothing to do with our current reality. 2024 Trump in no way ran as a moderate.

Read the article and the main criticism I have is that they seem to think “moderate” means “different than prior GOP orthodox”. Yes Trump has leaned into economic populism against Reaganism. But his rhetoric on tariffs, the civil state, and immigration is anything but moderate. [This video gets shared a lot](https://youtu.be/YsmgPp_nlok?si=a5h0C46azDWmmY3b) but it shows certain ways Trump is a vast and radical departure from the GOP of old.

I’d probably have the same disagreements on abortion or LGBTQetc rights with a hypothetical Romney administration, but I wouldn’t be worried about an attempt to annex Canada.
