It assumes that there won’t be an election where new people will enter the conversation. Remember, Trump actually had to beat Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley in the recent primary election (combined, they got 50% of the vote).
If they said Barron would get their vote, it would make more sense. “Anointing” doesn’t sound like it comes from the people
