Would Democracy work better if there were more than two parties? Like if there were 13 council members, and they were in charge of making decisions, and they were split 7 for the blue party, 6 for the red party. Then blue always wins, because they have more votes every time. But if a new party arrived, and took 2 votes from each group, then we have 5 blue, 4 red, and 4 green. Now, each group doesn’t have the majority. If they psuh for something the other two groups don’t like, they lose to the other two voting no. But as long as you can convince one of the other groups, then you can pass the vote.
Would that be a better system? And how would you enforce a third powerful party?
