There are near term fluctuations in the popularity of far-right parties but people fail to understand just how high the floor for these groups have risen.
Even if not allowed in government these parties kneecap the democratic process by making it harder to form coalitions. And as their popularity endures opportunistic leaders are going to start to work with them, until they become just another part of national politics like in Italy.
Even in Germany where the AFD is still reviled, the conservatives tried to use their support to pass an immigration bill which was only defeated by 12 votes. Europe is in for some dark times.
The issue is the miss definition of what hard right is.
Hard right is 60s liberal parties, natlibs like the AFD and FPÖ are still libs. And they are utterly radical by 1800s standards. The natlibs got guilt by association from the nazis because they supported german unification since the spring of europe.
