This is just plain stupidly; no matter how much you dislike Erdogan Turkey is the 2nd largest army in NATO, has massive influence in Syria, and has a crucial geographic position in helping to threaten Russians Caucuses and Black Sea fronts.
More than even that though, deciding you can pick and choose what agreements with your allies would uphold would DESTROY any and all U.S credibility and would just be asking Russia to continue its expansionist efforts.
