  1. I was really shocked at this, so I looked into it.

From what I gather, this is just extending the rule that already applies to most other nationalities to include Canadians

Per a source that spoke to CTV (linked):

[“It is something that’s existed before, but we’ve never seen it really applied to Canadians in the United States,” Berardi said. “In my career of 28 years, generally there’d be a carveout for Canadians that would say this applies to everybody in the world except Canada. This time around, it’s included Canada.”](https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/article/heres-how-new-us-rules-will-affect-canadian-snowbirds/)

It’s not a special Canadian registry, it’s the ending of an exemption

  2. It’s still crazy to me that Canada didn’t even do anything lol. They just randomly became the enemy of American conservatives oddly right as Canadian conservatives were poised to win.

Enabling Canadians not to travel to the United States? Okay? How is this supposed to help the United States?

Well that’s one way to help Canada reverse its longstanding brain drain to the US problem
