  1. Trump’s approach to tariffs has been completely nonsensical to me, but this article provides some logic behind Trump’s moves.

I disagree with the overall project, and I’m not convinced that Trump is actually following this logic, but at least I can wrap my head around this argument.

Nobody with a functioning brain would believe a security guarantee from the Treasonous Orange Shitweasel, so that plan is dead in the water.

What if instead of blowing up our relationships with all our allies and ruining treasuries as the anchor of the global financial system we simply raised taxes to get a more sustainable financial outlook

I’m tired of rationalizing. This would only make sense if Trump wasn’t kneecapping US credibility on “security”.

  5. I feel like this idea is taking off because it provides a unified theory of Trumpism’s economic policy, but I don’t think it’s an immediate goal of most of the actual decision makers. Trump loves tariffs flat out. He’s wanted them since back when people were afraid of Japan. The sovereign wealth fund people don’t want foreign currencies, they want liquidity for their crypto wallet. Forget guaranteeing security, most of these people want out of security arrangements. To say nothing of Congress, who has no intention of actually reducing the deficit.

  6. Do you even need a degree to get into a think tank anymore, or can any idiot just publish whatever they want?

  7. Does not seem to be any attempt to provide security. Worse Trump is partnering with Putin and undermining the nuclear deterrent.
