A controversial bill introduced in the Minnesota Senate seeks to modify the state's definition of mental illness by including a new condition labeled Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). The bill, if enacted, would amend Minnesota Statutes 2024 to formally recognise TDS as a mental health disorder.

The proposed legislation, introduced during Minnesota's Ninety-Fourth Legislative Session, aims to redefine mental illness under state law. It seeks to amend Sections 245.462 and 245I.02 of the Minnesota Statutes to include Trump Derangement Syndrome alongside other recognised mental health conditions.

According to the bill, TDS is described as an “acute onset of paranoia” in response to the policies and presidencies of Donald Trump.

The bill also expands the definition of mental illness for case management and community support services, incorporating TDS within the framework of mental health intervention.

As the bill moves through the legislative process, its future remains uncertain. Lawmakers are expected to debate the measure in upcoming sessions, with strong opposition anticipated from mental health professionals and civil rights groups.

The Minnesota Senate offices for both parties have single-person, gender-neutral bathrooms.

The Republicans taped gender labels on their office section’s bathrooms.

“You so paranoid that we’re authoritarians, the only solution is to have the State label you and persecute you!”

So if “TDS” is going to be considered a mental illness, what about the people who, you know…

  4. Well, gee, why don’t we make drapetomania an officially recognized mental illness while we’re at it? It’s every bit as stupid as this!

This is why we shouldn’t be itching to overturn O’Connor vs Donaldson Supreme Court decision, which prevents states from involuntarily confining the mentally ill so long as they aren’t dangerous and can care for themselves.

Yes, everybody wants the nuisance homeless off the streets, but do you trust Republican governments to define mental illness? They’ll lock you up for insulting Trump, not buying a Tesla, or advocating for abortion access.

  6. I didn’t know politicians without any medical background were able to define what is and isn’t a mental illness

I literally do not understand the verbiage here and I’m a medical professional.

*”Trump Derangement Syndrome” means the acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal persons that is in reaction to the policies and presidencies of President Donald J. Trump. Symptoms may include Trump-induced general hysteria, which produces an inability to distinguish between legitimate policy differences and signs of psychic pathology in President Donald J. Trump’s behavior. This may be expressed by…”*

Are we examining the pathology of Trump’s behavior, people’s reaction to it, or both?

Not doing anything to dissuade me from thinking that Trumpers are part of a death cult.
