For me this is the biggest contradiction about the case for populism besides the argument that it isn’t necessarily a good thing to just burn everything down if what you put in its place is a lot worse.
The biggest advocates for populism almost always are well off people who are pretending to be like salt of the earth 1950s factory workers and falling for 1950s posters and aesthetics. They are people who Read Theory but never put it into practice when the opportunities are there.
