Rurals keep stacking Ls on Ls. They lose the organizational efficiency of FEMA and gain incompetent state / local officials wasting (or outright stealing) federal emergency funds.

Medium-long term, how tf is this country going to stay together? We have red states actively wanting to trash the federal government and an administration intent on weaponizing what remains. And naturally, blue states that increasingly want little to do with the states that don’t appreciate their funding and benefits. At some point it only seems natural that states join the call to rethink how this is all setup… we all know the reforms needed to bring effective governance will not be passed.
The country is so polarized that at best we will see massive swings in direction every 4-8 years without any legislation of substance passed. It’s going to require a true crisis (potentially one inflicted by the current administration) to shock the political system into reform or it’ll tear apart the country in the process
