one of the things I hate most about presidentialism and two-party systems is the bipolar policy swings they cause
four years of reasonable governance, then four years of undoing everything the last guy did. and some things they’re breaking can’t ever be fixed tbh
we need consistent, responsive, moderate governance and our electoral system just isn’t capable of delivering that

I hadn’t even considered that there are some business interests who are looking to benefit from protectionism and there for spent money for those policies. I knew some labor groups thought that way but so don’t see why business thinks it can earn more by making their products more expensive overseas.
