I’ve actually met with their former leader Emily Lau quite a few times, this is sad to see.

Stuff like this happening at the same time that China is trying to rally other nations against the United States does not mesh well.
Also…..China really can’t make one move against Taiwan right now. If they do they can completely forget about extending olive branches to any Democratic/Western aligned country. Even if they would want to there is no way most western citizens would be okay with it if Taiwan was to fall under China’s control.
Like imagine EU trying to make deals with China while European citizens are staging boycotts of Chinese goods. And asking for less trade with china?
