Now that my briefcase full of pro immigration research is open, I will slot this paper right in there.
E- be careful with this one…while it does show that immigrants are less likely to be incarcerated, it also shows that immigrants from Mexico and Central America are more likely to be incarcerated than other types of immigrants. There have even been points in the past where that line has crossed native born citizens. The point still stands, but it may inspire some “these immigrants really ARE worse than other types of immigrants!” type responses.

We need to get *really* tough on crime, **relentlessly** tough on crime. If we really want to get serious about crime, we need to deport anyone born on US soil, and ONLY let people be American citizens if they were *not* born here and if they immigrate. Natural born citizens are just too dangerous to keep as a concept. If you want to be an American, that’s great but you need to be born somewhere else

The authors of this paper look at the data and find that immigrants have had lower crime rates than the native born for at least 150 years.
