or *Plusiodonta compressipalpis*. another owlet, completely different from the last. very odd looking and kind of alienish, which kind of makes their name fit (though it’s named after a plant they eat). they have a band of blue that sometimes looks a bit [pearlescent](https://bugguide.net/images/cache/HHG/RKH/HHGRKH8RYZKZULLZWL3LPLKZEL0RHHSRYZQRNL0RFZ0RJZQRZH2ROLIZQH6R3ZYL1LERHH5RCLRZDZ7RWLKR3Z7R0H.jpg)
they usually live in the east but there have been reported sightings of them in arizona. it seems like there’s a theory that it’s just people mixing them up with their strictly arizonian cousin [*Plusiodonta amado*](https://mothphotographersgroup.msstate.edu/Large/SeAu8535-1-LARGE.jpg) though

>A Kurdish militant group announced a historic decision Monday to disband and disarm as part of a new peace initiative with Turkey, after four decades of armed conflict. The decision by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, was announced by the Firat News Agency, a media outlet close to the group. It comes days after it convened a party congress in northern Iraq.
>In February, PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan, who has been imprisoned on an island near Istanbul since 1999, urged his group to convene a congress and formally decide to disband, marking a pivotal step toward ending the decades long conflict that has claimed tens of thousands of lives since the 1980s. More than 40,000 people have been killed in the conflict since the PKK launched its insurgency in 1984. It is designated a terrorist group by Turkey and its Western allies.
Very good news if it’s followed through

> **Why Burkina Faso’s junta leader has captured hearts and minds around the world**
>> …After seizing power in a coup in 2022, Traoré’s regime ditched former colonial power France in favour of a strong alliance with Russia, that has included the deployment of a Russian paramilitary brigade, and adopted left-wing economic policies.
>> …His junta has also cracked down on dissent, including the opposition, media and civil society groups and punished critics, among them medics and magistrates, by sending them to the front-lines of the war against the jihadists.
Who outsourced BBC’s headline writing to RT?
I got a theory. Is the Qatar gifted jet a back channel from China? Trump is negotiating with China and now rumors of a deal being struck are leaking.
30% for 90 days still sounds insane, market is surging anyway. Very confusing times.
>[The “main problem” preventing Gazans from leaving the Strip is with the countries where they would emigrate to, not Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Sunday. **”We are destroying more and more homes, and Gazans have nowhere to return to. The only inevitable outcome will be the wish of Gazans to emigrate outside of the Gaza Strip,” he added.** This also marked the first time that Netanyahu referred to plans for distributing humanitarian aid at the committee, as he stated that receipt of aid would be conditional on Gazans who receive aid not returning to the areas from which they came.]( https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/politics-and-diplomacy/article-853568)
> [On the issue of the government in Gaza, Netanyahu also clarified his position: “Gazans we evacuate will not return. They will not be there – we will rule there. There is no other destination. Any other destination is a bluff.”]( https://m.news1.co.il/Archive/001-d-501280-00.html?AfterBan=1)
So yeah Bibi just embracing ethnic cleansing here earlier today…fucking terrible.
Hot take for this sub but Marxism, more specifically class conflict, is a useful framework to help understand the political implications of how the economy is structured and while no silver bullet should not be excluded in serious policy discussions when it comes to things such as deregulation, tax structurers or well fare programs. For instance it’s pretty clear people like Musk have pushed to keep the tech sector and campaign finance as unregulated possible in order to further their own economic and political interests.
