Anyone deeply involved with industry knows that a loss of Taiwan or worse a loss of Taiwan and the destruction of it’s chip fabrication would have roughly similar damage to the world as Israel and Iran getting into a regional nuclear war. Possibly even worse.
Chinese news agencies constantly spam out articles about how Taiwan, Vietnam, and Korea are actually part of China and a successful invasion of Taiwan would encourage China to invade its other neighbors and to intimidate its neighbors into being vassals and becoming totally dependent on it economically or risk being invaded. Large scale nuclear proliferation would become inevitable.
If the Taiwan chip fabs are destroyed it would likely cause a great recession tier economic event and cause dozens of industries to effectively halt operations from Automakers to Apple till new chip fabs in other countries could be completed. There would also be a total return to cold war era economic boundaries and collapse of East West logistics and industrial connections.
