Moving forward is what one needs to do. See what can be changed, what should be changed urgently. Otherwise it’s just Blue MAGA with heavy nostalgia.

Yes.
People act like we didn’t already go through a Trump presidency before, and this isn’t Americas first rodeo with a wannabe authoritarian either. What’s lucky for us is that Trump and his sycophants are so incompetent and their crimes so flagrant and is already having a bad taste in their voters mouths. They don’t have the mandate they think they do and if elections were held again today there’s a good chance they would lose.
We will have a wannabe authoritarian for the next 4 years but let’s stop the bed wetting.

We’ve made it through worse, we can make it through this. Never give up on her
Beginning to think I should have editorialised the title a little so people don’t just answer the question in the comment section but actually read the article as well
(I am also guilty of this sometimes)
But really guys, you should read the article; it’s about civic culture and republican virtue

My biggest fear is that the American liberals end suffering a mix of complacency and delusion.
In the sense that instead of actively taking steps to pull the country from the brink, they:
– Assume America has always Deus Ex Machina’d into a better situation every time they suffered any setback, and this time won’t be any different, so everything will go right with any intervention.
– Assume Trump is the only problem and once he’s gone the GOP and the base will be back to normal and they just need to wait it out.
– That nothing Trump does will cause long-term damage to the country so it will be easily fixable.
– That forgiveness is the only path forward and must treat the opposition with kid gloves once they’re back into power, allowing them to lick their wounds and try again with a bigger, worse, fascist.
In fewer words, America can be saved, but it must be an active effort, or it will come the day where it reaches a point of no return.
