It’s amazing how so many of the Abundance critics frothing at their mouth haven’t even bothered to read the book

This book more than anything else has made it clear that a certain section of the Liberal and Leftist sphere in American (and probably western) politics doesn’t actually want anything specific.

They have essentially given up on solutions themselves other than the most grandiose and un-achievable idealism driven solutions.

There’s no real coherent theory or or consistent position that they use other than anger and gesturing generally at some nigh religious solution like “eat the rich.”

They can’t and won’t criticize policies on the basis of those policies just in comparison to their mythical hopes. As a result everything they say ends up feeling like bland identity driven politics.

Deregulation is *often* a bad thing. However if you can’t engage an argument about deregulation beyond just “deregulation bad” because *you have no practical through line to making people’s lives better* you’ve failed.

And I don’t particularly love Abundance, but people seem unable to grapple with what it actually says and proposes.
