What DOGE didn’t do

More nuanced beyond the headlines of staff. Reducing federal bureaucracy is a large task. Promises of fast, large results in a short time frame are doomed to fail. This needs long term planning with everyone on board across political lines on how it should be done (We are so doomed).

People complaining how agencies should be operating like corporations miss out on why they don’t operate that way. We have an AWOL Congress that set it to be gummed up so the out of power party can boo and hiss on the sidelines whining how nothing is getting done, and to then shrug and say their hands are tied when back in power.

It’s been getting harder over the past quarter century to get almost anything done in a timely manner (From federal to local), and it’s contributed to people losing faith in institutions and democracy. There should be no talk of going back to pre-DOGE from Democrats. We have 19th century institutions running on 20th century politics. It’s overdue for major changes. Either Democrats can cede all of that to Trump and continue to lose relevance, or fight back and empower those who will be unafraid to imprint what the liberal’s vision of the federal government’s role should be in today’s day and age.
