I honestly thought this was going to happen in like the first 6 weeks of the administration because Elon was getting more press than Trump. Given how severe his narcissism is, I figured he wouldn’t be able to handle that.
The fact that they were still acting like they were mostly on the same page until recently made me worry that it wasn’t going to happen at all.

I didn’t see it coming! For the first couple months, I thought Trump’s brain was so melted that he was no longer capable of resisting Elon’s influence. Apparently “work with Trump and get burned” is the “buy index funds” of politics.
