I will note that by far the two NIMBYest people in the neighborhood I grew up in were both cons.
One guy tried to block my mom from a minor renovation that switched one bathroom to a master bath connected to her bedroom (literally just removing a door and a wall, but changing the floor plan requires submitting some paperwork to the town and he tried to write the planning committee to stop it when he heard). This is under the guise of “trying to protect a historic home”. The only thing “historic” about my mom’s house is that it was built in 1920 or so. It’s not historic, it’s just old.
People are so moronic man.
I mean it’s not surprising. The entire basis of social “conservatism” is about resisting change and trying to keep things the way they were, by definition.
Not to say that Democrats don’t also have this as well, but they also tend to be more socially conservative in that type of definition.
