Let me guess: “Since I’m a hubristic dipshit, I thought the government would be super inefficient and that we were going to be doing amazing things by destroying state capacity but then it turns out it was more complicated than we thought, especially because of complying with federal laws.”

So basically this guy comes off as laughably, hopelessly naive throughout the entire interview for so many reasons. He figured out nothing that anyone who’s worked at any level of government didn’t already know.
Silicon Valley brain really is an illness isn’t it? They really think they’ve thought of everything for the first fuckin’ time?
I also find it very hard to believe he joined for non-political reasons given how massively politicized the whole thing was before it even came into existence. He was apparently willfully ignorant of this, or just lived under a literal rock. He missed the nazi salute and all the skull measuring this guy had been doing for years?

> MALONE: So one day, he was poking around the VA’s computer code to learn the software and learn what he could do.
>LAVINGIA: I was updating “Twitter” to “X” in the footer of va.gov.
This is fantastic.

Listened to the NYT Hard Fork podcast interview with him. Incredibly naive and kind of dumb.
His joke to the current VA employees when asked what he’s doing is “I’m here to RIF (reduce in force) you guys”. And would constantly swear citing it’s a “cultural difference” to ask “what the fuck is this thing doing”
