Every time someone says “Nevada and Arizona are the same” I will point them to this chart

  3. States don’t pay taxes, people pay taxes

How about a chart showing how many people Elon Musk and Jeff Bezoz pay for.

Y’all aren’t ready for the conversation about how New Jersey is the real super power and the other 49 states are just holding her back

  5. > In 2022, California paid $83 billion more in federal taxes than it got back in funding.

    > California’s low dependency score stems from its many high earners, who contribute a disproportionately large share of federal taxes.

With how often red states, especially the ones getting more federal money than they pay, sneer at us Californians and call us the real welfare queens…

Can we have our fucking money back?

  6. This data means very little without some serious explanation. New Mexico has a lot of federal money coming in through the national labs. Virginia has national labs, military bases, the pentagon, and lots of contractors.

Compare that to Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, etc., where the states are just poor.
