its pretty astonishing how China and Chinese companies are pushing the global car electrification almost by themselves

    * China produced 31 million light vehicles last year, roughly 35% of global production, and growing
    * Chinese brands production outside China is booming , in 2 years production capacity of Chinese brands overseas will likely cross 4 million vehicles per year

**if you add up Chinese car production, Chinese car imports, Chinese car exports, production of Chinese OEMs outside China, you already have over 40 million cars , or almost 45% of global car production already, that is affected directly by trends in China**

this leads to a 4 phase “assault” on Western gasoline carmakers

    * first, their Chinese produced gasoline car sales are declining ,losing over 2 million sales units past 2 years
    * Western and Japanese carmakers already closing down gasoline car factories in China due to dissapearing demand [https://cnevpost.com/2024/07/26/honda-to-cut-gas-car-capacity-in-china/](https://cnevpost.com/2024/07/26/honda-to-cut-gas-car-capacity-in-china/)
    * then, their exports to China are declining ,hurting their production elsewhere
    * then, Chinese car exports are increasing, hurting Western OEM sales in markets outside China
    * finally, Chinese carmakers open factories in those countries, thus driving them into survival mode even there

those carmakers are only safe from Chinese competition in the West due to tariffs, but Chinese companies are slowly building production in Western countries as well

**eventually ,GM and Ford wont be safe from electrification even in US, unless Trump bans Chinese companies from building factories there altogether**

i fucking hate the CCP ,but i gotta say they beat our ass on electrification, and the future of the car industry is theirs
